Here's the backstory. The systemboard on this sucker was pooched when I bought it, so I used the HP Part# located on the current board to find a new board (assuming the same board). I installed it and updated the BIOS, then wouldn't you know it, Windows was blue screening! So, on the bottom of the laptop it has a sticker for "Windows Vista Home Premium OEMAct" with a faded key (Figures, right?). Just so happens a member of my family has a legit copy of Windows Vista Home Premium SP2! I go ahead and install it, all is good. It actually grabbed an OEM Key (That actually matched with the "Vista OEM SLP Keys" thread), assuming from the BIOS, and installed without a hitch. That is, until I load into the system for the first time and see I have a 30 day count down. So I search and search and find this wonderful site. I check the keys, I find out I have SLP 2.0 (Not 2.1, doh) on this board. I need to find out if my copy of windows just won't work, or if its something wrong with the BIOS (needs an update or change). Normally I wouldn't go through all this trouble over a cheap laptop, I would just install a type of Linux on it...but I plan on giving it to my sister for her birthday thats coming up and I don't see her using Linux. EDIT: The 30 days is expired as well. I am trying to do the "slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\COMPAQ-HP-HPQOEM-2.0" thing in CMD and it's telling me I need elevated privilages. I am currently using the only user account "User". I see a lot of posts asking for help, and the 'asked for' tabs are the SLIC and the RSDT...so here they are Code: RSDT Tab: Root System Description Table: 0x3F67C6EB 52 53 44 54 50 00 00 00 01 A6 48 50 20 20 20 20 RSDTP.....HP 33 30 42 42 20 20 20 20 00 00 04 06 20 4C 54 50 30BB .... Perfect! Thanks Urie! The SLIC Toolkit confirmed that I had 2.0 on this board, and the Daz Loader worked like a charm. Windows is activated! However, it still had the "This version of windows is not geniune" in the corner of the desktop. The rearm command you gave me actually cleared it. It may or may not come back in 3 months, but I guess we will find out then! Thanks again Urie, and mydigitallife for all the great, quick info!
