Hi there, I´m new to this forum, very good info btw, currently I´m having Issues modding a phoenix bios from a unbranded laptop that a phone company offers in my country, the version of the bios 1.05.01.CM and I made a backup with Phlash, the only thing I want to do with this bios is to unlock all hidden menus and if it would be possible change the boot logo also, because it have a logo from the actual president of this country.

Anay help would be apreciated, if you need more descriptions I could give them

Phoenix BIOS can be backed up, but you can't flash it back.

You need to find a source of a bios update.

Yes, you can disable phlash platform check. You need to disassemble and learn asm. Probably it's only a checksum or something. I have read it somewhere here on this forum.

My plan was to use a bios update from another brand notebook with the same bios id, but I think that is not an easy task like it sounds, samsung r580 and r590 share the same bios id, and almost the same specs, and I´ve checked with biosagentplus, I run it in this notebook and it says there is an update available, but 30$ for a bios update?

    Even more info here

    BIOS version 1.05.01.CM
    System BIOS date 11/23/11
    Video BIOS date 10/14/10

And Aida64 says that the bios version is 2 years old

Thats the model VIT M2421, but they don´t have any bios update, samsung r580 share the same bios id and almost the same hardware characteristics, thats why i planned to flash the samsung bios update to this model, but I´m a noob as you can see, and is better to ask first

i think with a backup and samsung dload we can compare platform data missing in backup.. merge the backup to the samsung dload ?

or maybe email them (VIT) for original bios iso :p

Not a good idea to flash a BIOS from a similar model, that is ALMOST the same as your is. That little ALMOST can mean all the difference in the world. Between humans and chimps is merely a 1.5% genetic difference, and still it shows.

    I'm curious, who's the president?

im almost sure if he emails them about bios failure they might send a bios recovery disk (if bootblock still works)
which we can use to mod.

just tell them why no bios on site.. what if bios chip goes corrupt and need to restore! (they will see the logic)
