Probably me being daft, but after my earlier post, got me thinking.

I've got an untouched XP retail xp now. Retail is actually better than OEM so why the sticky for pro oem slp cd?

Why would you want to have a working retail version and change it to a hybrid OEM version?

    Advantages...disadvantages?

I think oem doesn't need to be activated, but the problem is it will only work on one brand of computer. Retail or volume license is easier for most people.

    Why should retail be better?
A Retail disc is exactly the same as a untouched OEM disc (i mean a disc without all the oem crap) except a few chm (help) files changes (probably for support reference)

I thought the original poster is talking about changing a retail disc to oem.. What's the point of making it brand specific if it already works? The key is also not transferable for OEM but for retail it is.

I guess converting a retail ISO to OEM only makes sense If ithe retail key is not available.
