I bought 2 Dell E6410 laptops. They had W7 pro on them. I upgraded to W10 on the 1st one with an old W10 ISO/USB, and it hung and crashed and couldn't recover anything, so I installed 7 with loader on it. On the 2nd laptop, I DLed a new version of W10 ISO, made USB, and it installed & activated and all is good. These originally had Vista on them, so the needed key is gone.... I upgraded the 1st one to W10, but it isn't activated.... Any suggestions?
Just activate it with any KMS Activator or *******. Also, how many OSes have those things had on them?!
hard way is to find that model recovery cd online or on dell support site for vista, then 7 upgrade then 10 upgrade otherwise easiest is the kms vl all route
Thanks all. I'll have to research the KMS route. I was good with Daz Loader and then free upgrading to 10, but I haven't dealt with installing 10 since they stopped the free upgrade option last year...
Another option is there are still a few e6410s available from the same place. I could buy 1 more, upgrade it properly, and sell the one i "screwed up" for probably the same price I paid for it. But I do want to learn about KMS also.
Try to upgrade again from within Windows 7 to Windows 10 with the new copy that you downloaded. It will work. After that, you could do a clean install of Windows 10.
It's something we can't talk about here and there'a word filter for it. Just google Spoiler s1ave77 hwid
Using to upgrade from an old Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro, will need to have Windows 7 Pro fully upgraded and with at least SP 1 installed. If that is done upfront, using to upgrade from that running Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro should not face any problems and Windows 10 should be activated automatically. What I'm not sure about if a machine was already tried to set up and activate Windows 10 Pro from and different architecture, like Home to Pro as an example, an HWID already will exist for that machine and activation will be denied. OP must use the same level as his original Windows 7 for to upgrade to Windows 10. If an original Windows (7 incl Sp1 and/or Windows 8/8.1) is present, that would be used to install and activate Windows 10 and not an (illegal) KMS solution! I pointed several times already in other topics to the fact that all those KMS solutions promoted here on MDL are still not really legal because for those, not any legal KMS Server is used for to activate any OS! It is possible for MS to trace down such used 'KMS-Servers' and start legal actions against the 'owner's' and users of such illegal KMS Servers.
yeah he meant something else on another forum by s1ave77 that can't be talked about on this forum like a longlife kms/kms38 sorry can't talk about it anymore but google is your friend or reddit
Thanks again. The seller told me he can get me a (the?) original 7pro key. Would I need to install 7 Pro, then upgrade, or can I just enter that key into 10?
That's true for Windows 8/8.1 but Windows 7. AFAIK, you could only upgrade from Windows 7 with SP1 to Windows 10, not from Windows 7 without SP1. I had tried to just to use a legit Windows 7 Ultimate Product Key some long time ago and was not able to activate Windows 10 Pro. Even called to the MS Activation Service and they told me that Window 7 need to be installed and SP1 need to be added as well first and after that, an Upgrade to Windows 10 would work. And it does on that way. Using a Windows 8/8.1 Product key without to install Windows 8/8.1 first works just fine to set up Windows 10 directly and the user will end up with a Digital License based on the HWID of the used machine. Even multiple uses of the Windows 8/8.1 legit Product Key worked for me on now 5 different machines with no problems and I had run that machines on the same LAN for a few weeks already without to get de-activated. And the 8/8.1 Product Key is still not blocked until now.
