I've been a great admirer of this forum, as I have received help inserting
SLP activation for my stationary Asus mobo.

Today, just for fun, I ran the OEMBIOS.EXE utility on my Asus laptop.
    (Z99H model with A8HE mobo)
This laptop haven't been modified in any way,and did not come with
    Windows pre-installed.
Despite that, when i run the OEMBIOS.EXE utility, I get this:
    C:\bios>oembios.exe
Windows XP OEMBIOS Test v1.0/168/66 (C) 2007 severach @ msfn forums
    F:Asus OEMBIOS.CAT CRC=B20C65BF
These Royalty OEM install CD's should preactivate (SLP) on your system.
Lines starting with E: are not reliably detected when running under Windows
    Press Enter!

    How can that be?
I definitively didn't pay for Windows on it...(nobody does in Thailand)
Laptop bought in Thailand about 2 years ago.
    Am I just a happy camper or ? :D

No, 100% standard Pirate XP PRO VLK install.(Fresh installed and formatted by myself)
No bootloader installed, and Vista i never played with.
    I am stumped ?

Could it be the laptop was originally sold/made as OEM with Windows, but they sold it
    without it anyway/misstake?

Kinda ironic, I came here to get the B20C65BF string onto my stationary Asus mobo.
Not having a clue about the laptop.
Now i can use the same OEM CD on both my machines!:D:D

Maybe they just put the strings in the bios. It is not at all difficult for the XP SLP. There is an ASUS string in the older models that will activate..ASUSTeK Pegasus I believe..This is the CRC for the ASUS_FLASH string though. Maybe you are just lucky. I would not use the VLK if you can make an OEM disk and have no problems...

I just ran xfilz little cute utility that transforms VLK to OEM:
    http://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/56232
It replaces the OEMBIOS.* files and the PIDGEN.DLL.
Then it adds the correct registry entries for Generic OEM.
Just put the correct OEMBIOS files together with the exe in a folder on your harddrive, and let it rip!
Sweet, works just beatiful now, validated with the latest WGA poison :)

(xfilz utility doesn't replace the OEMBIOS.CAT, so I replaced that manually)
