I noticed it back too but mine still says it is 10.2MB, I have held off installing until I know it is safe because you cannot uninstall it.
I already installed the old one before it disappeared, never noticed any problems. There was much to do about it back then and I took a look at it. It contained some system files, new version of pkgmgr etc, but they were stored in some directory. The original files that are really used weren't touched. Let's see what this one does... EDIT: the 10MB update is for x64, 4MB is for x86 EDIT2: Just looked at it, this files are in the update: Code: apds.dll apircl.dll apss.dll cbscore.dll cbsmsg.dll cmiadapter.dll cmitrust.dll cmiv2.dll cntrtextinstaller.dll dpx.dll drupdate.dll drvstore.dll esscli.dll fastprox.dll globalinstallorder.xml helpcins.dll locdrv.dll mofd.dll mofinstall.dll msdelta.dll mspatcha.dll oemhelpins.dll pkgmgr.exe poqexec.exe repdrvfs.dll smiengine.dll smipi.dll svcini.exe wbemcomn.dll wbemcore.dll wbemprox.dll wcmtypes.xsd wcp.dll wdscore.dll wmicmiplugin.dll wmiutils.dll wrpint.dll x86_installed xmllite.dll
didn't this update break update integration into an image? I thought this was the one... (the old version anyway -- I take this is a newer one?) I remember integrating updates and anything past the point of this update would not integrate (I didn't try the rename trick to put it at the end of the list of updates). as far as installing on a live system that would be a different matter (less problematic I would think). but hard to justify trying out the integration thing with SP1 so (hopefully) close around the corner.
If you integrate sp1 with dism it's integrated allong with it anyway, so I think you should be able to integrate any past sp1 update without problems again.
So there should not be any problem with this, right? It's just odd that it is unchecked by default, which was actually a reason I avoided this update the first time since that lovely KB971033(anti-piracy specific) was also unchecked by default.
This was true with RC version... this is RTM maybe they fixed it by now... i dont know i didnt test it and i wont test this because SP1 is around the corner and this update will become useless when MS will release new isos with SP1 intergrated.
