I don't know if it's Windows related or hardware related, but I have some weird problems. Yesterday, suddenly my caps or shift key was locked. And whatever I did, pressing shift and caps 1000 times, this shift wouldn't unlock. After a reboot everything was fine though. Now 5 minutes ago I had the same problem with the alt key. It all started yesterday or tuesday (don't know for sure anymore) whit vmware giving me a few bsods. The cause of the bsods is already fixed however. I've had similar problems some time ago and it got worse and worse, in the end it appeared to be bad ram. Yesterday I've ran memtest for 20 minutes, and no errors were found. Does anyone has a clue about what's happening here? Of is it just time for a clean install?
I would start with a clean install, especially if you have not done it for a long time. And if you are like me always playing about with software etc. I always do one every now and then. Also if you do a clean install download the new Windows SP1 DVD, the integrated one from Official M S DVD. Then take it from there, also is it a laptop you are using cause sometimes the keyboards fail on those, or if it is an External keyboard have you tried another keyboard before you re install..
Usually I do a clean install every 6 months or so, but now it's been running over a year without one. And I already have the sp1 iso and I'll finally switch to x64
You could save yourself that headache by just cloning with Acronis True Image and restoring when you want clean system, that's what I do.
I've ran a videoram check from hirens bootcd and that's fine. How long should you run memtest? Is there a tool to check if my cpu is making errors? It's no overheating I think since the fan isn't 100% running. And I don't think it's a hardware error btw, the problem is always the same (key lock), apart from that my system is stable. Or maybe the ps2 keyboard controller is failing? But I think it's a softwarproblem since the problems started after a bullied windows with 4 bsods.
