Do you think MS would change the KMS Protocol after the coming Anniversary Update? Please share any information, thoughts on this.
No idea precisely when, but on one of this updates it will happen, I suggest Digital Entitlement before 29th, hurry up!
As KMS has been thoroughly cracked, I wouldn't be surprised if they change it soon. And I'd be no more surprised if a new system is likewise cracked.
Why should they care right now? People running Windows, buying from Store, getting advertisements. Tons of data for analyzing and selling. Goal achieved!
It's almost surely because there was a profit being gained. My mentor is a partner in a firm that did some of MS's IP work that's not in house and one of his rules is that no matter how illegal it is it's always, it's almost always more worthwhile and about ten times more winnable to go after someone who both had a financial stake and actual financial gains from the infringement. In fact, without an economic element, the lawyer gets paid but only because we get paid win or lose in IP cases, the client doesn't have much to gain at all.
Sometime back there was a poster here @ MDL who had one of the KMS server services running in a VM and seemed to take great pride in advertising his server IP at every opportunity. Frequently used to post how many thousand Win and Office installations he'd had, seemed very proud of it. Then one day posted "I had to take my server offline". True Story.
Idiotic title.... MS has never cared about the Windows piracy, they become a giant because the piracy, and now they even formalized it closing both the eyes in front of any kind of "legit" upgrade. But Office (nowadays) is a different matter... they still make a bunch of money selling it, not just to corporate users. They still care a lot. Razors are for free, but blades must be paid. And Office is a pretty big blade.
I doubt there was only one poster @MDL doing that. Many of the cool dudes here @MDL seemed to do it in the early Win 8 days.
