Lately, my MSI Katana 15 B12VGK freezes when turning it on with an external HDD connected to the left USB-A port (the screen is black and when I disconnect the drive, it procedes). Odd.

EDIT: I tried the external HDD on the right USB port and I didn't have this issue and I also tried other USB devices on the USB port where I'm having problems with said external HDD and I didn't too.

Does type of issues are hard to diagnose, try changing the cable on the external drive also try the external drive on a different computer and see if the error replicates.

I can't change the cable but I tried the external HDD on another PC and it didn't have this issue.

I just tried the external HDD with another USB cable and I still have this issue. Also, this problem happens when turning on the PC, not when restarting it. I don't have bad sectors in it according to DiskGenius too.

Are running win 11 or 10 could be a driver issue with the USB port , what kind of external HD is it, does it a dedicated power supply or is USB power.

Windows 11. Already tried uninstalling the driver. It's a 2.5" external HDD.

check the boot order of your device, you might have a copy, image or something on that external drive.... that your machine wants to boot from there....@

Windows Boot Manager is in first place and USB is in second.
