    Hi all my PC chums..

I got my self a little toy. A Toshiba Portage 4000 note book.
It was given to me for updating my mates Tomtom. wow a free lappy, nice.

But it has no HDD. I have looked round and found one for over a hundred quid...URRRRRRRRRRR no !!!!!!!

What i would like to know should a XP Live CD boot up so i can test that the lappy works ok before i even think about buying a HDD. A cheep one though.

One thing though the BIOS screen does not come up,i would expect it too..mmmmmmmm ????

Nobody gives away a perfectly good lappy...

A BartPE disc will work, or the ultimate boot cd.

Try a linux live cd, they are the easiest of all things to use with no harddrive. You can use your Flash drive for storage or whatever..

Yes been reading how to make a BartPE XP Live CD..Recon i will give it a bash.

I tried Ubuntu and well i went into the Boot Select screen and it did not boot from the CD.

My old Toshia Satellite does not read CD's but does read DVD's so i might try making a live DVD and seing if this works.
