Is there anywhere to download offline installers for Google Chrome browsers? I've checked out many sites in the past couple of hours, and all of them default to the download page at google.com, even those that claim that they host the files themselves. Every one sends you to the same google page where you have to agree to download AND INSTALL. I'm just interested in downloading the offline installers for later installation, when naturally, I'm offline. Thanks.
Okay, my joy was killed pretty quick. As soon as I started the install, I'm informed that it's being downloaded from the net. I realize that it's likely the latest version that is being offered, but I really just want a plain offline installer that won't update without my consent. I tried to cancel out but even though I interrupted the process, there it was, already installed on my computer. I hate these companies that won't take no for an answer. So now I have the latest Chrome installed, that I didn't really need. Would it have helped if I had disconnect from the net while installing? Or would it have updated as soon as I opened the application? I noticed that it looked for updates on running the first time.
Mr. X. I unzipped that small program, and when I ran the installer, the setup window closed and the installer itself vanished from my desktop. Checked everywhere to see if any new programs were installed or running but came up empty. Should I be worried about this? Perhaps I should do a quick restore of my drive from my external backup?
First off, that little program is not an installer. It's a program that sniffs or gets a download link for the channel / architecture you want. When it retrieves such link a messages tells you a link was copied to your clipboard, then paste that link in your browser's address bar and press enter, then your Chrome offline installer begins to download... Maybe your antivirus program is interfering with it or firewall, dunno.
I'm still unable to post links, but if you drop this into G@#gle: "ChromeStandaloneSetup64.exe" then click on the first link, you'll get the offline installers you're looking for. Good luck!
Thank you, sebus. Those were the kinds of installers I was looking for. Full installers that don't download additional files. Can't tell if they would attempt to update because I think they are current (46.0.2490.80). Thanks also to everyone who replied to my request. The Enterprise version seems to be the one to find and download if you want a true offline installer.
Chrome Offline Link Sniffer 3.2 also downloads full standalone offline installers but those Enterprise versions, interesting though. @sebus Could you share the program or method you use to get those Enterprise installers? I assume those links aren't permalinks and will vary from build to build. And could you tell differences between them? Any pros / cons? TIA
