hey, I'm looking forward to buying LENOVO G470- 432826U I'm getting for $ 599 , after e-coupon directly from Lenovo site, I've never purchased a Lenovo, but I'm aware about their ThinkPad quality, ...although no idea about their IdeaPad & Essential Series (the one I'm buying) how is the quality of components used & built quality ? Which ODM + OEM makes Lenovo Laptops ?? does anyone have a list of the Brands of Components used inside ? Config. 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Processor ( 2.30GHz 1333MHz 3MB ) Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Intel Integrated HD Graphics 3000 4 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz 14.0" HD Glare with integrated camera 1366x768 Industry Standard Touchpad 500GB 5400 DVD Recordable (Dual Layer) 6 Cell Lithium-Ion Lenovo BGN Wireless Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR One Year Warranty
it's practically unknown for a major brand to manufacture there own stuff, they just assemble other manufacturers hardware in there own package, go on the lenvo site and you'll get the cpu and chipset used then you can probably determine the motherboard from that. displays are generic so you'll always get a mix of different manufacturers in any range same with memory and hard drives.
hey, I think my 2nd Q, was wrongly framed, I wanted to know which OEM makes Lenovo laptops .... although my Q sounded a bit different, so I've edited it
thought so, as Acer technically makes their own ...Wistron makes them, but that company is owned by Acer Group... so Lenovo OEM is also called Lenovo, or is called something else but owned by Lenovo ?
I think you're talking about ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) not OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). From my understanding Thinkpads are designed by Compal, not sure if that applies to the current lot, but in the past Compal designed them.
They're excellent, my work provides me with the X301. The body is very strong, built like a brick. The only issue I have with Thinkpads is that they are waaaay overpriced. It costs loads to get one configured with 4 GB memory and a 500 GB hard drive. If I had to personally purchase one I wouldn't, I would just go with the Asus U36JC. If you want to know what's in a notebook just visit the drivers page, that will give you a quick rundown. Visit the forums for a particular model you like so you can also check out any potential issues.
I know that THINKPADs have excellent quality, however mine is NOT thinkpad ... mine is G - Essential Series, so wanted to know how is the quality on that... unfortunately so far I've been unable to find hands-on reviews on G470 ...since it's relatively new...
I'm not sure about that, it seems too new that's why no reviews and it's more of a low end product for Lenovo so not much attention. You can keep an eye on Notebookreview.com , it should pop up sometime. Maybe you can ask in the forums they're very helpful, they do a lot of user reviews of notebooks.
