Lenovo Thinkpad needs OEM Activation friendly Windows 7 Which direction should I go? There are so many Activators / Crackers etc etc. and ISO / Torrent downloads that confuse the hell out of me.. I missed the FREE Lenovo Win 7 Update "Eligibility" by a few days from my Thinkpad purchase. I hate how they do this.. Suggestions appreciated.
Hahahaha I am in the same boat. I missed it too by a few days. I called them but they refused to send upgrade DVD. I also missed the upgrade window for my HP Elitebook. But when I called HP, they still sent me upgrade DVD free of charge. Glad for better HP service. My T400 is stuck with windows Vista
Your system does not have SLIC 2.1, which means you cannot use OEM activation for Windows 7 directly. You either need to mod your bios or use a loader.
Which route do you suggest? Pros vs Cons? Is there some documentation that compares the two..? Long term stability in case of Microsoft's online Authentication / Activation systems become more SMARTY pants (like they have been doing off late & deactivating peoples Win 7s) ?
Here is the quick and dirty fix for you. 1. Download a x32 or x64 bit version of Windows 7. Make sure you get a pre cracked or original version. Go to bitsnoop and search for "7600.16385.090713-1255_x86fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate" (This is the 32bit one, which I use. For the X64 change the search x86 to x64 and leave the rest the same.)Please check the hash of the ISO that you have downloaded using HashCheck or any other hash calculator, and verify that it is the same as the ones provided by Microsoft: * Microsoft Windows 7 32 Bits o MD5: D0B8B407E8A3D4B75EE9C10147266B89 o SHA-1: 5395DC4B38F7BDB1E005FF414DEEDFDB16DBF610 * Microsoft Windows 7 64 Bits o MD5: F43D22E4FB07BF617D573ACD8785C028 o SHA-1: 326327CC2FF9F05379F5058C41BE6BC5E004BAA7 Either will work but, for backward compatibility or 4GB or less systems use x32 version. X32 is a 32bit which can only use up to 3.5GB of memory and has been used for years. X64 is for systems that use more than 4GB of Ram. 2. Use a loader, either Daz or Hazar both are different methods but, work fine. Make sure you get you loaders here on MDL as TPB or torrent sites can have bad things in them. Just use one then research which is better, it really makes no difference but, will allow you to remove them if you want to change to another loader.
I looked up the SLIC 2.1 bin list for your LENOVOTP-7L, but it is not available. So, if you do a bios mod with any other Lenovo bin, the table will look inconsistent. Until your bin is available you can use a loader. About the WAT, as of now it only deactivates systems using blacklisted keys, preactivated ISO, modified system files and so on.
Slic is a table found in your bios for oem activation of windows. Slic 2.0 will activate vista and Slic 2.1 will activate windows 7. If you missed the windows 7 upgrade by a few day, then you missed by a few day having slic 2.1 in your bios. I'd go and check for a bios upgrade. It's very likely that that if you have the exact same model as a computer selling with windows 7 a few day later, you get the free update anywais by upgrading bios. It's what happened with my dell. Once you have upgraded bios, install any original windows and use Daz loader to install key + cert. (Convert a non branded windows 7 to activate with lenovo oem slic) If you can't upgrade to slic 2.1 in your new BIOS then you can still use Daz loader to activate windows. There's others option too but I find that loader to be the most friendly / idiot-proof.
Which is the latest Win7x64 ISO that I can install for SLIC 2.1 based activation? I heard that a Windows 7 that includes an integrated SP1 is available? I have a machine with SLIC 2.1 on the BIOS. Which ISO? How do I go about it?
