It means that you have to patch every single .dll for Taskbar, Start Menu, etc. And if a new update comes out, you must redo it.
I don't know anything about LTSC 2019 But in Windows 10 Pro, if you go to this there is a Light.Theme listed Windows/ Resources/ Themes
It's not a "fking" theme, its a system-wide feature which was first introduced in 1903. If you want new features, upgrade to 1909/2004, if you want stable OS, stay on LTSC, so easy. Btw. you can do an inplace upgrade from Ent. LTSC to normal Ent. SAC.
Is there any update on this? I was also trying to get the official light theme from 18362 onwards installed on LTSC 17763 Can anyone offer a fix? What about simply copying the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder from a new version, will that work? If so, could anyone upload those original files? I did not know about this issue before, otherwise I would have copied the unaltered files from previous install
I think the following might work. I don’t have the facilities to test this, if anyone would like to please feel free. Maybe one of our MDL magicians could make a script to do this but first let’s test it thoroughly. There might be unnecessary steps but they are included for good measure and to minimize variables. I am not sure if replacing the DLLs is required. It might work without. ʜᴇʀᴇ ʙᴇ ᴅʀᴀɢᴏɴs Machine A: Factory fresh Microsoft ISO install of v1903, 1909, or 2004 (b 18362, 18363, or 19041). Activated. No updates. No Internet. Secure Boot disabled. Anti-Virus disabled. UAC disabled. Machine B: Factory fresh Microsoft ISO install of LTSC 2019 v1809 b17763. Activated. No updates. No Internet. Secure Boot disabled. Anti-Virus disabled. UAC disabled. Machine A (non-LTSC) Step 1: Using PowerRun or NSudo, run a portable version of your favourite Windows Explorer replacement (Dopus, XYPlorer, Total Commander etc.) as TrustedInstaller Step 2: Using Task Manager (Control+Shift+Escape) right click and end the Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) process Step 3: Using the portable explorer replacement running as TrustedInstaller, copy the whole and exact contents of C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ to a safe external location (for example USB drive) Step 4: Copy themeservice.dll themeui.dll uxtheme.dll uxinit.dll From both C:\Windows\System32\ and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ and place in separate directories labelled 32-bit and 64-bit to avoid confusion. So that is 8 files total, 4 from 32-bit and 4 from 64-bit saved in the safe external location Step 5: Shut down or restart (click an empty area of desktop then press Alt+F4, or from CTRL+ALT+DEL menu) Machine B (LTSC) Step 1: Using PowerRun or NSudo, run a portable version of your favourite Windows Explorer replacement (Dopus, XYPlorer, Total Commander etc.) as TrustedInstaller Step 2: Using Task Manager (Control+Shift+Escape) right click and end the Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) process Step 3: Make a backup of the original b17763 LTSC files by copying the contents of C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ to a safe external location and name the folder LTSC 17763 Original Files Backup to avoid confusion Also create a backup of themeservice.dll; themeui.dll; uxtheme.dll; and uxinit.dll from both 32-bit C:\Windows\System32\ and 64-bit C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ to a safe external location and label them separately as 32-bit and 64-bit LTSC 17763 Original DLLs to avoid confusion Step 4: Using the portable explorer replacement running as TrustedInstaller, copy and replace (overwrite) the files safely saved from Machine A into C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ on Machine B Step 5: Copy and replace themeservice.dll themeui.dll uxtheme.dll uxinit.dll In the respective C:\Windows\System32\ and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ directories. Make sure to do this correctly, 32-bit and 64-bit. It can get confusing. Restart and… voila? If there is any problem, restore the backups created in the same way.
My pleasure. Thank you for testing it. Will it work just replacing the Themes folder without the DLLs?
