Linux install issue: no monitor signal

Discussion in 'Linux' started by Deleted member 222776, Oct 28, 2017.

    Hello,

I'm trying to install openSuse and every time I select install from the boot menu, the monitor goes blank and displays No signal detected.
I've always had this problem witrh other linux distributions as well. It just never worked for me out of the box.

I have only one monitor, 1080p resolution connected via DVI cable if it matters.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you!

What is your video card (likely the issue) and just to be 100%, what is your monitor?

    A quick follow-up

Try hitting F3 (or E) on the GRUB menu to select no KMS or to change the kernel parameters to include nomodeset

It likely is your video card.

  3. I have a geforce gtx 970 video card and a iiyama prolite-x2483hsu-b1 24inch 1080p monitor.

I'll try your suggestions and get back to you.
