Quite a nice list. It will definitely come in handy. As for AV scanners, are we talking about a bootable AV/Live CD or as a portable .exe file?
User who like to use K-3D, should be warned: K-3D needs a lot of resources and maybe even disables some some OS and/or Graphic features/settings K-3D install Visual C++ 2005 which crashes Visual C++ 2008! I use mainly Aurora 3D and Xara 3D for the graphics I need to create as 3D. They're fast, need not to much resources and are easy to use. Unfortunately both are Payware and not free!
Thanks Sid. Someone else may have already said this, but quite a number of these are available as PortableApps which I think is a handy little launcher and portable SW container.
If you don't want to mess up your Windows' registry and want to take your programs with you, if needed.
They don't need to be installed in the "Program Files" folder. They are actually "Standalone" and can just be copied to a USB stick and ran from there.
Then why do we still use installers? Won't it be quite beneficial to use portable apps all the time. They don't mess your registry. They can be run on the go. They are very fast and convenient. I know this might sounds stupid, but I'm curious.
No, not stupid at all. In fact after reading your comment the same questions came to my mind. Hope some expert could response this. Ed~Well, I googled a bit and found these advantages/disadvantages from a user in a forum:
Thank you sir. Installed: - Included on a System Image backup (can be recovered with OS) - This can also be done with portable?
Indeed it can be done, actually I don't know why the OP at that forum didn't include that one in both types. Obviously put your portable within your system partition/drive.
