I've got a LiteOn DVD LH- 20A1L Sata with lite scribe. Burner was working well with XP. It's not playing well in Windows 7. The tray will not open up and have to use a paper clip to get it open. Device Manager says it's an ATA devive. I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Motherboard is a P5K-SE.

IDE as my mother board does not support AHCI.

yes, bud. maybe u allready have those installed ? if so, try deleting all ide channels through device manager and reboot + reinstall.

if not, try them, but first delete all ide channels and reboot, then install the marvel drivers.

ok, so it's not a firmware issue...

Well I went to Asus and downloaded the Marvel drivers. Can't install them as they are out of date and not for Windows 7

the vista drivers should work. that's a bummer.

did you try just deleting all ide channels in device manager and rebooting ? then they should automatically reinstall. maybe it'll solve the issue alltogether...

I uninstalled them all. When I rebooted I don't see the dvd in Explorer anymore.

EDIT: Found it ok in My Computer. Still won't eject. Maybe she's toast. Not that old and seldom used tho.

I don't see the Marvell controller or drivers in Device Manager. Do I need Marvel as this DVD is a SATA drive. Thanks for your help bud.

Well, in normal circumstances you don't really need them as the standard win7 drivers are sufficient. But in some cases functionallity is flawed and then you need the drivers that come with your mobo.

In most cases the vista drivers work fine for win7. Was installation of the marvel drivers really impossible, or did you just get a message that they aren't compatible ? In case of just a message, ignore it and install anyway. They should work fine.
