    Hi all.

win-7 loader uses grub and modifies MBR(No prob)
Next Q. is Grub is used on Linux , wherte Grub stores it data( or which partition it marks as active) as it can not write to ntfs.

-windows/linux all run in protected mode.
-any code chain loded by MBR/grub will be lost once windows subsystem starts and take over.
-then how windows is tricked into thinking that slip2.1 is present.

    * The loader modifies the boot sector and not the MBR.
    * GRUB4DOS is different from GRUB and as it runs before the OS boots it can make any changes it wants.
    * SLIC is stored in memory and not the hard drive.
