Recently I bought a 2nd hand FUJITSU SIEMENS PI 1556 laptop off Ebay,
Original OS WinXP, but seller had Windows7 installed and äctivated.
How can I determine if thisWin7 is a legal one or if a loader or Bios mod has been used?

You do not need the Fujitsu key, you can use any of the Ultimate OEM kyes, so long you have SLIC 2.1 and the right certificate.

For starters use PIDX Check to see what type of key it is.

Then we can go from there.

Daz it could be a system bulider license anyway. At that case the seller should have sold the original W7 DVD with it and the unique serial.

Real preinstalled licenses have a COA sticker somewhere.

Class OEM:SLP ---> preinstall license from an OEM!!!

Installation wasn't made by OEM and no COA sticker---->SLIC'ed version, you may call it pirated.

Its actually a 2006 laptop though that comes with XP, I don't think it's eligible for an upgrade to Windows 7 which is why I said it's unlikely it wouldn't be legit if it contained 'OEM' :p

Thank all of you for the excellent info.
So it is a Dell key for sure!
It does not matter much; the laptop is working perfectly, but it is good to know..

    Thanks again,
    Hans

In my country the system builder license (PID also -OEM-) is a full version and can be legally sold without to sell a new PC! Really..... I can legally install that license to wherever I want (on one PC only)... I get my unique serial to be activated against M$ server.....even on an 2006 laptop :p;)

It's much cheaper than retail, you don't have M$ support.....but who cares???

Ah I see, the system builder license. I guess thats one way, although I imagine it wouldn't be so easy to get ahold of one thats not been spread about and blocked unless you taken one off someones system you're repairing or work at a store. In this case though it was a real Dell OEM SLP key on Fujitsu hardware :p

Also Yen if it was system builder license i,e, OEM:NONSLP they should still attach COA sticker i knew we had to mind you a few years back with xp system builder packs of 3 always came with COA sticker.

lol..yes..but it's up to the customer to stick that sticker to somewhere....the reseller should sell the sticker with it (stuck on pc case or not..)
Anyway if you buy a PC with an already installed OEM OS it should have COA sticker coming with it, that's right...
