What about .wmv for live user tile or the new logon screen? Do we actually have confirmation that these features aren't hidden in 7850?
Remember when Windows 7 build 6801 leaked? Some features like the new taskbar were locked. You had to install BlueBadge to make the features appear. picpimpin. com/ABR1lLZFNqI6agR2AN99/sanstitrefjf.png
I would love to try the new logon screen EDIT: That image posted by you was from Milestone 3, it's expected to have a lot of hidden features...
You can use wmv files, founded that option in registry. Original usertiles from M3 was posted by Vlad62 in Taskbar UserTile thread.
Microsoft Windows Immersive Shell, Aero-Lite and Ribbon UI are all present in this build. None of them can be enabled as the resources are not complete. The ribbon UI definitely there, probably since the very first Windows 8 builds. That new bar at the bottom of Windows Explorer will replace the old blue bar at the top from Windows 7. At the moment they both do the same thing, but the bottom part will stay and the top part will be replaced by Ribbon UI. As for Immersive, I guess this is the equivalent of the superbar in Windows 7. I'm pretty sure that it could be unlocked in this build as there are quite alot of resources for it. Plus twinui.dll and other files are present in this build... Strangely though, I can find nothing at all about the replacement of Aero supposedly called Wind. So far nearly all the other UI components have been leaked...Immersive, Ribbon UI, Aero-Lite, but nothing on Wind/or a newer Aero. I'm guessing the builds with the smaller 'X' button have a newer UI hidden away, but its not there in build 7850...
Wasn't it confirmed a while back that the x64 and x86 versions of Windows 8 would have different features (and thus interfaces)? That would explain the lack of anything pointing to Wind.
Good morning fellas... ..in italy is morning now.... 've tried blue badge on 7850, after confirming and rebooting it installs some kind of 25 updates.... but after that no changes on gui and explorer too.....find some new programs, but it was late night so no try. Now at work, as soon as swich on my notebook i'll keep you informed.... nice goin' people
It does not work, as BlueBadge simply patches the WINDOWS 7 files that were required. Microsoft made it a *bit* harder to unlock those features. Infact, they all rely on the Activation System (e.g. Windows Team gets a special Key that generates a special PID, just like OEM keys have #####-OEM-#######-##### as PID and Retail ones, MSDN / Technet ones have something different there) whereas the checks in Windows 7 were a bit easier to hack. you can still take the Windows 7 approach, patch registry values and files to bypass this, but just as said, its much harder by now.
Ahem: Unlock Ribbon UI: create such a key in registry: HKEY_CLASS_ROOT\CLSID\{4F12FF5D-D319-4A79-8380-9CC80384DC08} create a string value in this key called “AppID”, set its value to “{9198DA45-C7D5-4EFF-A726-78FC547DFF53}” Now simply restart explorer and you should have the ribbon UI unlocked.
Who urinated in your cherrios? I don't Give a DAMN about who gets credit for what. I was answering the question posted above me. Get back into your hole. Only someone with some BS to prove would even think I was trying to do otherwise. [
