Does anyone know how to change the way users log on in windows 7 ultimate ?

In Xp i had a simple welcome screen with blank fields for user and underneath password, can't seem to trace it in control panel

I actually don't believe that you cannot change it but you can change to background easily. You can try google it you like.

Googled it and it does'nt apply to win 7 ultimate

Start regedit.exe and navigate to the this key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft\ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
In the right-pane, set NoUserNameInStartMenu value-data to 1

After policies it does'nt have Explorer

You will have to go to the Policies directory in the registry and then create a new Key called "Explorer" then a new Dword inside that explorer key called "NoUserNameInStartMenu" and set that to 1. I would use system restore to make a system checkpoint first though so you can restore it if you have problems. Then apply that reg hack restart and see what happens.

    You go to configuration screen

Make a useraccount : there you can make an accountname and password .

Isn't that what you want ?

Hi sam3971 , just edited the registry as above but still the same:confused:

@ zaiko , No, what i need is a single username and password screen that gives no details to who is able to log on.
What i have at present is 6 icons with names underneath and a space for the password.
