I want it to stop RECORDING when the cursor stop moving, so the file won't be very large. I use it in class, so I have to switch between textbook and computer. Thanks.

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

Thanks. I think I meant screen RECORD software, not just capture a picture. Thanks.

Look in option section in Camstudio you can setup keyboard shortcuts it is set to F9 by default to stop recording.

Can it stop automatically when I stop moving the mouse?

Now that question I do not understand if you are recording mouse movements and acidentally stop what good would that be. Whats wrong with just setting up a keyboard shortcut you can also set it up so as not to record mouse curser in your video.

I use it in my Excel class. The prof shows us how to do certain thing on Excel, so I will do it on my pc. So I have to stop a lot in class when he is not working on Excel. I guess I have to do it manually.

So why can you not just pause Camstudio, then shrink Excel and work on whatever else you need to do then expand Excel when needed and continue recording.

I use ManyCam for streaming my desktop, otherwise CamStudio is the best option.

Could make a hotkey using one of the extra mouse buttons (if you use multibutton mouse)
