So Im in need for a Windows 8 iso so I can upgrade, not fresh install, windows 8 (which will later be upgraded to windows 8.1) on my windows 7 machine. I do plan to keep all my programs and settings. Anyone know where I can get said iso? Also, I have an OEM product key from a deactivated windows 8 machine,
#1. Upgrading Win 7 to 8 to 8.1 while keeping all settings and programs ... . Would recommend to run MS upgrade assistant to check whether it's even possible. Nevertheless i definitely would recommend installing Win 8.1.1 freshly . #2. Normally Win 8/8.x OEM activation is tied to a specific machine with a MSDM table in BIOS/UEFI which holds the key. At least your choice .
So is it possible using the iso from murphy78's iso's? To go from 7Ultimate to 8.1 while keeping everything?
IMO - NO - one of those "even if you can, should you" things. The OP has the option to do with his/her machine as he/she sees fit, but I suspect his/her plan will lead to more issues in the long run.
you say you have an OEM key... hm... do you know what key it is like pro or core or single language? If it were a propper 8 key, you could go with 8.1 directly installing generic one and later create a smooth activation with your genuine key
You need to update to 8 using the "Keep programs and settings" option and repeat for 8 to 8.1. During upgrading, you need to allow it to download updates or it will damage your system files. You haven't mentioned the architecture of the win7 os you have installed, so I cannot point you at a proper download. I also have a svf (smartversion 3 patch) from 8.1 with update to normal 8.0 if you need that. I'm not going to go through the hassle of uploading it somewhere if you don't tell us what your architecture is though...
