I have a strange request. My brother had a HP Desktop that had 5 blown caps so it needed replacement. He purchased a
new motherboard but after installing it Vista would not activate. I looked for the slic but there was only a slp1.0 in the bios.
This originally was oem activated Vista but I can't seem to find the original 2.0 slic'ed bios. If anybody has or knows where I can find this original bios I would be grateful. The board is a HP M2N68-LA narra3 revision 3.02. The HP part # is 5189-1661.
I would of given him a new computer but he has all of his business software and data on the HP and some of it is no longer available.
    Thanks in advance,
    budzos

I am looking for the original bios preferably. If I can't find that then I may consider something with a 2.0 and 2.1 HP slic.
Thank you for the reply, It does give me something to think about.

the old bios wont work on new board anyways.
make backup of new board bios then we mod with slic 2.0 and flash back.

Now that I can do. I will head over to his house tonight and backup his bios. What would be the best tool to back the bios up with?
    Thanks, budzos

    its awdflash.exe http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cnizdrm6fpspu72
    i believe to backup its
    awdflash backup.bin /pn/sy
    which means /pn program=no /sy save=yes
    backup.bat http://www.mediafire.com/?zyiezo832fflzjn
copy this file to usb with awdflash.exe
    boot dos then type
    backup.bat
and it runs backup.bat with commands inside it
(right click edit if need to change)

and to flash just type awdflash and then it asks for filename of mod.bin that we made with awd mod tool with ISA method and slic 2.0

then after flashed u can use slmgr.vbs or opatool tool if needed to activate.

It should activate if the bios works since it was already oem activated before replacing the motherboard in theory anyway.
Would this tool backup the bios ok ?

Ok I have the bios. Its an Award bios by Phoenix Tech. Here is a link to it,
http://www.mediafire.com/?zs8r5ei0ha6hr2c . If you can mod it with the slic 2.0 for Vista
that would be fantastic. I will probably put in the request forum with all the details tomorrow.
    Thanks for all the help,budzos

Cool Thanks a bunch, Now how would I go about flashing this. Load the rom and awdflash to a usb stick and boot into dos. Type in awdflash and go.
Or would a usb floppy work with a bootable floppy with awdflash and the rom on it.
    Thanks, budzos

    usb stick.
if it works sometimes universalbackup is not good idea.

optionaly u can put backup.bat with awdflash in usb and make a backup. should be same tho.
