Hello, I have a few older Dell computers that I am trying to get working for my nieces. I have the key for Windows 2000 Pro that came with the systems. However I do not have the original cd's or recovery media. Does anyone have this? I tried the 2000 pro sp3 or 4 iso already that is listed on this forum but I keep getting an error that says the key is not valid. Thank you, Robert
Win 2k Pro I have a copy. It will only work on Dell machines, but I can get it uploaded if you still need it. J.
Those doesnt require any activation, just a cdkey.. You have to make sure it is a valid key for the right version, there aint just one of W2k
Retail & VL I think Also you might want to install WinFlp on these machines, will work well better then W2K Pro sebus
I've owned used Dell desktop pcs for years. I've always found I could use any Dell Windows disk in any Dell because the unlock code is on the motherboard. Its always been my understanding and experience that you need not enter anything. All of my Dell and my friends' Dells have the newest version of Windows we have because we simply use the newest Dell reinstall disk to install that Windows on all the Dells. For instance, I sent a friend one of my XP Dell disks so he could install and run XP in his Dell Windows 2000 computers. He has been using and updating them for two years with XP that he installed with my Dell XP disk --Bruised
Sure, XP was the first OS that was tied to an OEM manufacturer (as it was the first OS that require activation, hence the SLP 1.0) No previous OS (95/98/2000/Me/NT) required anything else but a valid key sebus
