Hi guys , just wanted to know what the hottest products right now on the market for removal of virus/malware/spyware. Of course I am looking for free alternative. Currently I am having a hard time removing some nasty stuff in internet explorer. Every time I click on the url tab, a new tab opened and re directs me to another website

    thanks

I use Symantec Endpoint Protection. Along with Malwarebytes Antimalware and TDSKiller (utility) for rootkits. Works well.

Still scan with Spybot for stubborn stuff, but generally manual removal from safemode first

    Safe mode
Reset IE to default from tools > internet options > advanced
    Clear all temp folders

Delete any bad startup entries in:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Check for and delete any suspicious entries in:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE

Boot into normal mode and run scans with malwarebytes / Spybot / above suggestions ^^

Install Avast free AV and schedule a boot time scan > reboot for scan (Scanning before Windows loads = ability to delete malware before it becomes a locked running process)

Spybot is good but it seems to have problems with Windows 10.

  7. As a manual on-demand scanner I would recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

For portable solutions, you can use:
    • AdwCleaner
    • RogueKiller
    • Junkware Removal Tool
    • Hijack This
    • OTL
    • RKill
    • TDSKiller
    • ComboFix
Always get the above tools from bleepingcomputer.com.

Adwcleaner as suggested above should take care of this particular browser tab/homepage hijacker problem. I blame warez sites, nasty stuffs packed within installers.

Emsisoft Emergency Kit is quite popular too, free and portable.
