This is Retail. If you need OEM or VOL, you can change it "SETUPP.INI" in the I386 folder.
    Read on Crypto's comment.

Hi, I have a desktop HP Pavilion a1600n that comes with Windows XP MCE 2005, I reinstalled the O.S. with a Windows XP MCE 2005 DELL OEM CD and put the serial number of the sticker, it activated fine but I cant validated so i cant install windows security essentials, can you please tell me what is happening and what I should do?, I did the same process with other computers using WIN XP HE DELL OEM CD and WIN XP PRO DELL OEM (putting the serials of the stickers) and everything worked fine always.

    thanks

This is what I did so far and it didn't work:

    1. First i installed WIN MCE SP2 2005 DELL OEM CD on my HP desktop
    2. Then I activated it with the sticker's serial number
    3. Then I followed the steps on the link above
    4. I ran the changer installer, downloaded the right OEMBIOS for HP and put it in the uncompressed folder then options 5 > 3 > 2
    5. Reboot my system and now is not activated

what is happening? what am I doing wrong?

    thanks

Thank you @Tito, I tried everything but it didn't work, maybe I need download the WIN MCE 2005 again (if you have a link with the untouched ISOs let me know please), I tried to read everything about this but I still having some questions about all this process.

1 - What exactly does the OEMBIOS changer and in what cases should I use it?
2 - What kind of media do I need? retail or the OEM CDs?
3 - Can I use my sticker's serial with this process? I would like to activate WIN MCE 2005 and validated it with my OEM serial.
4 - Should I put my serial to activate windows before or after start run the OEMBIOS changer software?
5 - Can I have the link of the last OEMBIOS Changer application?
6 - Is there a tutorial of each step I should do?

I hope you can help me, I would appreciate a lot :)

with refrence to abve post, i have checked the disc in power iso and it already contains the files which i have extracted from the dell compressed rar file, do i need to replace these files with the ones from the dell package or are the ones already on the disc the correct ones.

Unrar the compressed file and just replace four oembios files with those present in i386 folder. If u have a Dell PC, then u should download Dell compressed oembios set from the oembios repository :)

    Installing MCE on Toshiba

I'm new to this process and trying to recover my daughter's boyfriend's Toshiba. I've downloaded the 2x CDs and attempted to install XP but get an error whenever I enter the license code (I tried the one in this post). Do I need to modify the CD1 with the OEMBIOS files? I have run the OEMBIOS tool and verified it - but what do I do with the OEMBIOS directory and OEMBIOS_DAT.txt files that I downloaded? Thanks for your help.

The instructions weren't in the OEMBIOS tool I used. Is there another tool I should be using? Maybe the VLC to OEM changer tool? I can't find a link to that tool that works .. Thanks for your help ..

Thanks - That's great. But now I am really confused. If I run this tool, it appears it will change my own OS license code - but I want it to change the two XP MCE CDs I am trying to build so they will install on the Toshiba I have. Right now, when I try to install XP MCE CD1, it asks for the product code .. and every code that I tried doesn't work (including the one on the COA on the back of the system). Am I missing something - or out in left field?

Okay - It worked with just putting the Toshiba BIOSOEM compressed files in the i386 direcory and updating setupp.ini (as in post #78 of this thread). Once I built the DVD, installed and then used the COA product code -- and away it went .. WHEW!! This is a good forum. I'll be following more here.
