    See PM:

Do not go by the version listed in the System Properties (this refers to the version of Xp that Media Center is
built on). Instead check it through the Media Center Interface,

settings -> general -> about Media Center-> software version.

I think you will find it to be 2005..

So glad Windows XP MCE 2005 was posted some where.
I am rebuilding an old Dell computer that came with it that my mom picked up.
It had no Hard drive and no cd drive.
I am hoping my USB dvd drive will work?
Do I have to go into the .iso file on 911Medic post of XP MCE2005?
It is a Dell Dimension C521
Hope this is not to much of a hassle to get it running.
Going to try to install it as is.
    Guessing it will fail though?

All xp images can be found here.

I found this on MSDN subscriber. It appears to let you download all versions of xp including MCE 2005 all as ISO.

    msdn .microsoft.com /en-us/subscriptions/downloads /default.aspx#searchTerm= &ProductFamilyId=140&Languages=en&FileExtensions=.iso&PageSize=10&PageIndex=3&FileId=0

And anyone with MSDN or Technet subscription can download them; nothing new.

    >Win XP MCE 2005
    >I can upload them seperately or as the DVD I have made..the actual OS is untouched..It installs as a single DVD.

For my HP Pavilion m7567C, may I get and use your above mentioned single DVD to run this command: sfc.exe /scannow
My computer's System properties show: Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3.
I do not know why 2002 is shown when the sticker on the computer case reads "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005" (the sticker also shows the product key).
I get black screen (frequently comes on and goes off) on my XP and suspect that some windows file is corrupt. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Windows XP is Windows 2002. MCE is simply an XP Professional that has been extended with Media Center. Check the About dialog of the Media Center to get the version number.
