I was experincing crashes, so i updated to latest Bios (Abit Fatal1ty FP-1N9 v 16 from the list on this forum) with Slic tested etc.

I should have anticipated that this might change the activation, but I didn't. I now have 13 days to activate. Is there a way to overcome this without a full reinstall? I'm so hectic at the moment that I could be doing without the hassle of a reinstall!

I did a search for this on the forum but forund nothing, so if it has come up before, apologies in advance!

Did your previos modded bios had the same SLIC as the new one ?
If not, all you have to do is import the coresponding cert to your new SLIC.

If you aren't shure what SLIC your bios has, please install and open ACPI Scope...
Go to Flie-->Load ACPI Information-->From BIOS
Save it as ats file and upload.

    Same SLIC

They both had an ASUS SLIC, according to the note with the BIOS. I can't get ACPI Scope ATM, but that's what I have to go on...

    Am running out of days...

I guess I'm gonna have to get myself a new licence for Vista, since I'm getting no joy here. Anybody have any solutions?

    OEM activation Vista already installed:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt with administrator rights and execute the following command to import the correct OEM cert:

"slmgr.vbs -ilc oemcert.xrm-ms" - Wait until windows pops up with a confirmation-message. (no quotes)

For example, to import and install a Asus OEM cert, execute (assuming the OEM cert is located at C:\ drive:

    slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\asus.xrm-ms

2.Now type "slmgr -ipk <insert royalty key>" - Wait until windows pops up with a confirmation-message.

    3. Now type "slmgr -ato" - Wait until windows pops up with a confirmation-message.

This should activate OEM version of Windows Vista (or Windows Vista as OEM edition) once the digital certificate is loaded.

    Will give it a go

    911 medic,

Will try your new bios, as soon as I get a chance to analyse it. Nothing ventured....

    Zebra 14

Running the -ato command shows 'Product Activation Failed'
