Lost activation! Why?

    I made a Clonezilla backup of my 200GB HDD: Windows Server 2012 R1 (activated, genuine serial number), only first two partitions, with MBR & partition table & hidden data.

    Backup restored to 120GB HDD works.
    Backup restored to 250GB HDD works, but loses Windows activation (same after another restore).

    Does anyone know why Windows loses its activation?

    You had made new Hardware Hard disk drive. Always use tools to backup your activation.. Or if you use True Image Tools, should be ok..
