Ok, so my account is the Admin Acct on the system - however, I have recently noticed that I do not have all the "proper" Admin rights. If I select different folders, most will have the READ ONLY attribute as a black box (partial check) - when I uncheck it, it goes through ALL the proper motions of removing the RO attribute on all files & folders within - and completes with no errors. But when checking again - the box is still black (partially checked). This goes for whole drives as well. Any ideas? This is all in preps for a new system with Win11. Thanks! --- DS
Thanks for the tips on that - it always confused me why it wasn't JUST blank when you set it that way. I'll keep AC handy just in case. As an Admin, I like to keep FULL control over all drives, folders, & files on my system. You noted - "The mixed marker is always shown for easily setting/removing R/O for all files (not directories!) inside the directory and in all subdirectories," - why NOT the directories, when the sub-directories are adjusted? That doesn't seem to make sense. (Though a LOT of what M$ does doesn't seem to make sense :-D --- DS
Sub directories are not touched, either. Windows does not have a concept of Read-Only directories and won't use it. Setting Read-Only recursively does only adjust files in the complete tree.
Ah, ok. Honestly that makes no sense to me (a non-coder) - but as I said, so does a LOT of what MS does ;-) --- DS
