I want to try it in vmware (windows host). The dmg I have is the first one but vmware can't read it, although I thought it could read dmg files before. Other dmg convertors and winimage are also unable to read the file. Is it possible to go from the first to the last dmg? I think that one can be converted with dmg2iso for windows. Or do I have to wait until some genius creates an iso?
As far I know, Lion dmg isn't for booting; only for upgrading, cause that dmg burned into disc cant be started by iBoot or EmpireEFI. But Mac OSX Snow Leopard can easily be upgraded using that Anyway, here is the details of the iND release: Code: File: Mac.OS.X.Lion.dmg CRC-32: 03e8c6e1 MD4: f9f487e5d2894a952727785f9d4390d2 MD5: daa36ad107f8379831d429d50bd79294 SHA-1: 4300ae9c35ce8d9dfa43834ba1f787735d4ceb98
I don't have OSX installed and no image editor like winimage or ultraiso can open the dmg... But google did help me to find an iso file, hopefully that will work. I don't think it needs to be bootable btw. I have some virtual harddisk file that does boot, I think it's a bootloader that looks for the osx files in the cd drive. Vmware can't read the dmg (which probably isn't a standard dmg file). The iso will probably work. EDIT: Wohooo it works!
hi - looking to do the same - care to elaborate just a tad more? arr this is driving me ( a predominately windows guy) nutz!
What do you mean with your last post? the official md5 of the Apple Store dmg is 5a8bc4c636f35c855250c7b5508ae7a5, if you convert the image and have it saved with the other compression you'll get 02968a201e2af81b18f3ed28c103aeac?
