I just used WHS 2011 to backup my activated 8.1 RTM copy w/ Office 2013 also activated. My copy now is available to me to install on any of my similar PCs & every app incl. 8.1 PRO will be pre-activated.
Wow, I wonder why nobody ever thought of that before. I am sure nobody at Microsoft knows their sophisticated anti-piracy system can be defeated by simply restoring a backup to another machine.
Tested on 2 machines w/ ASUS motherboards & similar other hardware. Edit:I did WHS 2011 backups today to test 8.1 RTM restore to another PC & results. Sorry guys it faied 3x. The WHS help is no help as what it says to do isnt there I was only testing RTMs w/ a legit upgrade key & sadly I didnt have any partitions the same size as the backup, failed on a BU from a smaller partition going to a larger one. MS may of fixed this now.
Why would you need WHS 2011 to backup an activated system? Can you not simply copy data.dat, tokens.dat and copy/replace them and then slmgr /ipk your key?
Well guys lets get started on preactivation. There are two ways we can do this. 1. Inject a activated tokens.dat file with commands to enter a product key you used it with using slmgr.vbs after install or unattended.xml to change the default key. 2. Inject it directly into the Windows image with hoping that windows does not detect a modified copy of the tokens file while making a unattended.xml to change the product key. I personally advise the first method. Which one do you want to use?
or else if you want an easy way use my toolkit to integrate pre-activated tokens with key to install.wim and then make a bootable iso. you can find it in my signature.
Thanks for the reply. And if you want to make and default key, how do? for unattended installation .......... And if you want to just fit kmspico .., office 2013....... ? Thanks
