Hi all, My windows is installed on 2 SATA drives in RAID 0 mode. But my MBR is on a IDE disk for storage, can i set my MBR to my SATA drive's ?
I was thinking about removing that IDE drive, boot into w7 DVD, and there select boot repair. I think that can do the trick.
I have done exactly that successfully, but with Vista rather than W7, there is no need to re-install. A couple of other things to consider; - can you make the SATA drives the boot drive in BIOS? (after you repair startup, otherwise when you reconnect IDE it will boot from that again) - can you back up data on IDE, delete partition and the recreate/restore? (after startup repair so that IDE is no longer bootable) My situation was a result of moving from IDE to SATA, along with dual booting MAC-OSX, using Chameleon. Basically I fixed the Vista booting from the SATA disk instead of IDE using startup repair, changed BIOS setting to boot from SATA, re-partitioned IDE for OSX and then installed Chameleon to allow dual-booting or either Vista (on SATA) or OSX (on IDE).
