Alrite fellas i need your advise. I just install 4GB or ram onto my computer and in the bios it's showing total of 4GB but 800MB is use for something and only about 3.12GB is usuable. What's the deal? I'm a little bit confuse here. How can i fix this so 4GB can be usuable? Thanks.
Nevermind the previous question, i figure it out. I have to go into my bios and set it to 64bit OS to be able to use the full capacity. Another question just arise. My memory is 4GB DDR2 PC6400 800MHz CL-5-5-5-12 but when i boot up my computer it is show PC5300 and not PC6400. Am i getting rip off from Frys?
it would be called memory hole remapping, memory remapping, mtrr mapping, memory address translation - it all depends on the bios / mobo manufacturer, but you should now get the idea
Yes, you are correct. About my above post it is showing PC5300 when booting up my PC but everest is showing 6400EL series on the module name. BTW my memory brand are patriot. Any idea guys?
if you have a gigabyte mobo then you must press ctrl + f1 (or alt + f1) when inside the bios. after that you will have access to advanced settings where you can set the memory up.
