I can’t find nubie section so I am asking for help. I am a retired (66yo) hardware design engineer (inventor) / troubleshooter on a limited budget. Always built my own systems and purchased os for every computer. I am trying to understand bios mods for winxp/win7/whs, authenticate strings and keys. I need someone who can be patient with me when I ask dumb questions in my quest to learn. I prefer baby steps in learning.
For winxp/win7/whs: Mods in bios are just one block of bytes that are changed? or multiple locations and multiple byte size? Fixed location or stuffed in blank/unused areas? Checksum and/or CRC bytes also need to be changed?? Any suggested program to read bin files to/from hexadecimal files? Thanks, Ray
