My computer does not have any sound, so I suspecting that the bios has to do with it since I have even tried to reformat the computer. Not just that my BIOS password was locked, I bought this laptop from Ebay, didn't know about this until I tested it.

Anyone has Dell Vostro 3450 default bios settings? Can I flash it to my BIOS so that it will work as normal? Thanks

To reset the BIOS password, do the follwing:
Boot into Windows as Administrator ->START ->Run -> type CMD and in the black box enter the following commands each line followed by pressing ENTER:

    Code:
    debug
    o 70 2E
    o 71 FF
    quit

Restart laptop and you should be able to enter in BIOS. ;)

We had to deal with a few vostro's lately with this issue from users who think its a good idea to password protect the bios,
take battery out> unto all the screws underneath, remove keyboard by using a thin blade top of keyboard but below the chrome trim, if you look closely you will see the tabs (4) push blade down and up

use finger nail to separate top from bottom > you will then see the bios battery, remove this for 20 mins > re-connect and reassemble, bios password should now be cleared. if you want step by step instructions youtube your model
