i recently upgraded to Windows10 Pro 64Bit. i use a dongle with 2G internet plan (GSM). i can't disable Windows from downloading new features and security updates as "Metered" option is disabled. But "Metered" option appears when connecting with a Wi-Fi Network. please help
metered is only designed to work when your using wifi. Now if someone figured out how they can get 10 to think it's on wifi when your on a wired line, it might be a nice inprovement
Metered is designed to work with cellular connections, and later to work with cellular connections accessed trough a wifi router. Likely the OP's modem has not fully compliant drivers.
Put the SIM into your smartphone, set your phone as an access point and connect to that over WiFi. Now you can set that connection as metered. Once again, Microsoft makes us jump through hoops to be able to do a relatively simple task. I tell you - if they ever decide to make a car, I'll bet it won't have a steering wheel.
MS has nothing to do with this. Metered connections are working nicely on 2/3/4G connections since win 8, but some older drivers are recognized like a standard ethernet, so no metered connection.
What should drivers have to do with it? I know whether my connection should be metered or not - after all, I am the one who pays my internet bills. Why can't I decide instead of the OS/drivers/software deciding it for me? What about wifi routers that take sim cards, or wifi dongles that plug into the router WAN port?
You won't need to steer the M.Soft mobile. It will just take you where it wants to go and keep a track of where you have been. Every now and then though you will have to turn the engine off, then back on again. God only knows how many windows it will have.
To use 2g Internet in Windows you got two options 1 install windows 7 instead 10 or 8 as there's way less traffic going on 2 install 10 or 8 then remove packages responsible for data being sent to Microsoft, tile update etc
First try updating your drivers - if it doesn't work then just disable windows update through gpedit.msc or set to 2 by enabling "Configure Windows Update".
