Hello, I have no idea where to post this question. Maybe someone has a similar issue. Today I received a phone call from UNKNOWN, that's what the caller ID showed. Spoiler (888) 589-6603 when I picked up the phone, it was an automated caller announcing that they were Microsoft, and it went on to say that I was in violation of "something" and I should call a specific number to remedy, and I hung up. This happened two other times this year. Thank You.
Some time ago "Microsoft" called me and said I had a virus on my computer, I thanked them for the excellent service and told them i'm now going to run a virus scan on all my Linux only machines
And seriously: If they were really accusing you to violate "something", you wouldn't get a call from some call center, you'd get mail from some of their lawyers or probably police would show up with a search warrant (the latter depends on how big this "something" is)
That's nothing. Innumerable times I had won first prize in a lottery I had not participated in. If only I had claimed it! I'd only have to reveal my bank account data and I'd be rich. Yet, negligent me is still poor...
lol dam I wish I had those type of calls. hay if it was a female you could piss them right off and say it was a sex line and it would cost them so much just for ringing. lucky me we have a phone system only numbers that we know of can ring all those blocked numbers don't even ring thru they do get told by ower system that the number they ring from is blocked. only close friends and family have ower number its even unlisted
Where is that number coming from? Can it be traced? I wouldn't be surprised the Microsoft call thing would soon end in bad faith with this type of issues.
Mine did. And after I'd toyed with him for a while with my Linux VM, I got a dose of what I think was Hindu cursing. They're all total Bravo Sierra and get ignored ... usually.
I had to actually think about a call I got a couple weeks ago. They actually had my serial number and stuff, claimed to be Dell. Claimed my laptop was reporting errors to Dell, haha. Fortunately I have no Dell software on my laptop so unless they were sitting with me I knew it was BS. I was somewhat troubled by the fact they had my shipping address and serial number so I told them my laptop was at home and I was out of town. They called back and I thanked them, told them I had found a virus and removed it. I could hear the disappointment in his voice. I phoned Dell and complained that their customer information was not secure but they didn't seem to care.
some times they spoof the number u cant tell were is coming from.....from my experience their always indian.
I got a call from Bob too! After a short while, I got tired of playing him and hung up. Not ten minutes later, the same guy called saying his was Fred. When I asked Fred how he could be Bob ten minutes ago how was he now Fred, I heard what sounded like muted broken English cussin’ just before the line went dead.
