Thanks! Excellent summary. It does suck that it won't link with Google account. For now I can't figure out a way to fully backup my profile to quickly restore it after changing OS and then restoring preserved backup. I backup my OS drive with bootable verison of Acronis True Image and restoration of that image does restore the account and logins properly UNLESS you install diffirent build of Windows or restore Windows backup (from Acronis True Image) of a different build. In that case, all logins and extensions vanish, but bookmarks bar is perserved and so are extension settings. With Chrome, you can easily restore everything by logging into your account, but you can't do that with Edgium. You have to re-downlaod each extension, even though directories and settings for them are perserved with User Data folder.
I didn't wrote "Edge build 18885", I wrote "in the build 18885" (look at the bold text of the comment that I quote), I refer to the OS build, in my case, Edge Canary has some features in build 18885 that are not present in Edge canary in build 18362 and vice versa.
To backup your USER/ACCOUNT (CANARY BUILD) for easy reinstallation, to use on other computers, or even use with the DEV Build; copy the DEFAULT folder from the location below to another location/backup drive: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge SxS\User Data Make sure you close out the browser first so that all sessions are closed out to retain everything within your account (favorites, settings, extensions, passwords, etc). Make sure you also copy/backup after any major changes you might make to the browser (Setting Changes, Edge:Flags, Extensions Added or Removed, Favorites Added or Removed, etc.) To restore or use on other computers or builds, I would suggest don't log in to browser after installation or resintallation, delete the DEFAULT folder that comes with the installation of the browser and copy your backup of DEFAULT FOLDER to the location of your CANARY/DEV Build. Once done, open browser and you should see you username/picture and everything should be restored per the last time you made a backup copy. Someone here gave the location to the DEFAULT folder within DEV Builds earlier within this thread (maybe page 3-7, you might want to look back for that location) or if someone with that acknowledge could repost it here again that would be great. PS... The size of the DEFAULT folder can be big depending on settings, extensions, how many upgrades, etc. Mine is over 1GB.
First of all, in all my comments I've talked about Chromium based Edge, that's the topic of this thread, no matter in which build is installed, so my comments are in the right place, the images and gifs I've shown with some new features are from Chromium based Edge, I have shown them working in Chromium based Edge not in "Chrome dev", finally, you really have a pretty aggressive attitude here and I don't like that, it seems that you think you are a moderator or something like that, the question I ask myself now is whether to use the button to ignore you or not ...
