My Microsoft Edge start page simply does not load. When I open it it says not responding and just stays as a blank page. I've tried reinstalling Edge but with no luck. I would appreciate any help.
have you tried changing your start page to google or something? Might be the start page you are using isn't working. I assume Edge is functioning since you only mention the start page.
In control panel, make sure EDGE is selected as your default browser and in Setting/System Set defaults by App
I've tried the link provided by LatinMcG. That is how I got to reinstall Edge, but the start page still doesn't work.
I hope you're not one of those overeager users that have disabled System Restore. If so, see if you can find a restore point to before the problem appeared. It's a classic case where SR can help, and it's easier than other measures to apply.
I only had one restore point and when I restored to it the problem still persisted. I had several restore point before windows 10 anniversary updated, but they all disappeared with the update. Only one seems to have been created since then.
˄˄˄ Yes restore points were deleted by the AU. What I used to do during my recent XP days, I created a restore point once a week when the system was functioning well, as a precaution. Then, if something would suddenly happen to my system, I could always fix it without losing more than a week’s updates. I am thinking of starting this practice again. You might also consider it for the future, as problems usually appear without warning, like the one you have now.
create new user and see if it works there. if it does then compare registry of both users. if it works on new.. try windows repair portable in safemode with net then after reboot see if u can set new homepage.
If you have uninstalled and reinstalled Edge in vain, perhaps you could enlighten us on what packages you have removed / tweaks / what you have disabled in your OS
If you extrapolate what I actually said, you are flirting with drawing the wrong conclusions. (No offense, just being objective). All I said is that System Restore can easily and quickly fix some problems that appear. That it can do eminently well, and that’s what it’s for. I never claimed that it is an almighty and foolproof backupper of everything or that I rely exclusively on it. In actual practice, I do full partition and data backups on an external drive, but this demands far more time and disc space, so I only do it every couple of months. However, this is another matter, and does not exclude or invalidate what SR can do.
All you have to do is go to edge settings and clear history and the start page wiil have the news feed back. My Edge start page has been coming up blank and after trying everything the above worked.
it's a crash resource, using Edge to play an internet radio station while surfing with the Firefox it crashed about 6 times yesterday in 1607 pro,as reported by the reliability report or I wouldn't have known a relatively default os with an 10 year stable x58 based tower
