    It's not the same at all. Technet is giving away server stuff. This offer is for theirdesktop operating systems in VMware and Virtualbox.

    It should not be free or it is a rare case that has escaped MS attention till now.

    Anyway, this is useful for people who may not have a OS iso to make a virtual machine system. For people with DVD/iso already in hand, it is a waste of bandwidth and time. Grap the vm software (virtualbox, vmware), and create a VM in 15-20 mins.

    I would say a useful link overall.
