I haven't installed the newest one yet. Some of the reviews speak of a "new automatic remediation functionality." Which I take as deleting files on it's own, rather undesirable. Can anyone that has it comment on this? I have a few files that always pop up and I'd rather not lose them.

*Edit: Never mind. There is a check box in settings to uncheck that is labeled "Apply recommended actions."

Will these executable files always come with the latest offline updates?

Yeah, I tell you, after you install MSE 4.0 then it will download and install definition updates.

Yes, the definitions are updated daily. You will get the latest updates at the time of download by clicking on that link.

    You are most welcome. ;)

Yes, you are right. But you can download the offline updates if you are installing MSE on more than one PC, so you don't have to download/update them separately on each PC.

When they update the application, do the URLs stay the same? IE, say 4.1 was released, will using the same link get the updated version? Trying to make a script to pull down the latest.

Do you have the link to the XP version of Security Essentials?

The 32bit version on the website covers xp, vista and 7. It's an all in one.

I mean the direct link to the exe, as there's different versions for x86, x64, as noted in the OP for Vista/7. XP runs a different version than Vista/7. Want to add it to a scheduled task that downloads the link once per day so I have the updated version locally.

No as Weedy already mentioned, the x86 download for Vista/7 and XP are identical
