Ya it would suck if MS forced the W10 update on my W8.1 Lenovo laptop. MS says its compatible Lenovo says its not compatible Thank you for the heads-up
Even more better! WSUS is now showing "Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586" with all of my not-yet upgraded Windows 7, 8.1 computers marked as "needed" At least I have the option of not approving the upgrade any time soon.
What's the path to get a genuine HWID? Get a daz pirated windows and upgrade to 10 to get a HWID, so the use of daz won't prevent the upgrade offer
Well depends on the pirated disk...I'm not saying you should get a pirated disk but if you want win 7 and can't find a way of stopping the nag and it really annoys you, then IMO don't use the Win 7 disk with SP1 added just the original. Of course installing it and losing all your apps is a last resort and not very practical....but worked for me on one of my computers, but MS might have changed the rules recently but I still don't get the nag and I don't want win 10 anyway as my X1950 pro wont work with it and also the computer is only used for storage. But who knows this computer might be closed down by MS when the free upgrade closes
We need to start some kind of resistance and fight back all this nonsense. I have paid for my Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 8.1 Professional licenses thank you very much and I'll be damned if I have to see any advertisements for Windows 10 on my PC's. I've already tried Windows 10 and I didn't like it at all, too much trouble and headaches. They're starting to be like pesky phone salesmen you have to endure. Got damn it, when I say no thanks it means NO THANKS.
I agree some resistance should arise against this corporate evilness I'm not that paranoid about telemetry and espionage stuff but what really pisses me off is the fact of having an unsolicited huge download and fascist like propaganda about a crappy OS like Windows 10 on my Win8.1 / 7 machines.
Why have Microsoft started with this crap propaganda? This isn't the Microsoft I used to know, it's like it's a different company altogether today. And what's up with all this "FREE" nonsense, Microsoft and free doesn't go hand in hand at all. They're so eager for people to upgrade to Windows 10 that you start to wonder if there's some hidden agenda behind.
Smart! Most people don't care whether their laptop OEM gives 'em a green light to upgrade--they just blindly plow ahead--then if they encounter problems it's always "Microsoft's fault," of course.
Yea, gosh, just *think* of all the software we'd have if there were no evil corporations! Hardware, too!
Updates are now disabled on all my machines. Thanks for the Windows 7 support through 2020, Microsoft.
