I don't believe I asked for any of that, but it'll be nice to have

Thing is, unless such performance improvements fallback to older DX levels (bare-metal for DX9 games like Skyrim and GW2 would be awesome), my interest won't be too significant for a while... Not to mention, I wonder how current cards will handle DX12, if at all. I'd hope AMD can pull some tricks to make it work on my 7xxx series GPU, but if not, then I'd rather see Mantle or even OpenGL take priority.

I just hope they will back port it to Win7, unlike DX11.2.
But knowing MS, they will most likely keep it an exclusive for Win9 to force us to upgrade yet again:nono:

It would be really stupid of them if they didn't.
I mean, it would make us mad, but it would give people 0 incentive to upgrade if you could just install it on win7

DX12 is supposed to be low level api. Maybe it would need changes in kernel to work properly and maybe it will be hard to implement to older versions (Win 7).

    Just my opinion...

This was just an announcement thing... It's like a "Hey devs and consumers, get interested in this so you'll care when we actually release it"
It's not actually available for consumers yet. They still have to actually develop titles that support it and release either the download or some OS with the capabilities.
I wouldn't expect it to be available on win7. I'd even be surprised if it shows up in Win8.1

Yeah, looking at the adoption rate of current DX 11.2, i would assume game developers react a bit opportunistic when it comes to compatibility with as much systems as possible :D.

Still a year to wait for the next ... let's check again then :cool2:.

Let's hope all games will use mantle and opengl from now on and directx dies. Or, well, they could just opensource it. What could go wrong?
