No big loss. Microsoft's support forum was often a waste of time anyway as most replies were premade script replies (canned replies which were copied and pasted over and over). You could outline the detail of a problem and outline exactly what you did in an attempt to correct your problem and the 1st reply would be to try "X, Y, Z" which you already outlined in your 1st post; suggesting strongly that Microsoft, themselves were not even reading the post and perhaps getting paid per reply. Nearly always, a quick Google Search yielded better results and most of the best support online was never from Microsoft themselves, but rather from 3rd party communities such as here (MDL). This is why if Microsoft ever does try to make Windows into a paid service, only the ignorant will buy into the product because only a fool pays for something that is prone to breakage without reliable direct support. If there is one thing Microsoft has an established history spanning decades is how unsupported Microsoft Windows is when you actually do have a personal problem.
Exactly GOD666, canned replies to different questions entirely. Useless support for broken products that are never fixed, just given a polish with eye candy. Pay fpr that? No Way Jose.
