i have hp dv5 laptop, if i mod bios, will i be able to reinstal factory installed vista again? or i will loss my origianl vista???please help me im newbie in this forums thanks
Yes and No. You'll be able to reinstall the factory vista indeed since modding does nothing to the harddisk data, but it will not be activated right after the installation since the old SLIC(2.0) should be replaced by new SLIC(2.1) after modding. And there's no HP2.1 SLIC that is compatible with the old cert on Vista factory. However, you may flash with an original BIOS before installing the factory Vista, which will return you the old (2.0)SLIC that is compatible with your factory Vista. Or after the installation, install the new cert(2.1) like what you do on 7 and your factory Vista should be activated.
Yes - you just need to install the correct key in Vista -which is different to the 7 key. But if you reinstall Vista you'll need to install the certificate in Vista as well. But why would you bother ????
I have a DV5 as well dude! yes u can go back to Vista no problem but trust me, once u use Windows 7! u will feel ur laptop is a turtle if u use Vista again Windows 7 FTW
thanks alot for ur help i installed windows 7 and loader worked fine for me. it activated windows on my DV5 laptop. thanks alot
If your laptop has an official update from HP to SLIC 2.1 I would do that. I did it to my partners HP which has a Home Premium licence but was able to install Ultimate easily.
