I´m running Windows 8.1, and never had problems with my wireless mouse ad keyboard. But my keyboard has a real problem, and I tried with a normal PS2 keyoard. But it wasn´t recognized. I read, that when we use a USB mouse or keyboard, the PS2 is disabled. I tried the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIE/CurrentControlSet/i8042prt and edited the value of "START" from 3 to 1. But it didn´t work. Is there another way to enable PS2 keyboards again?
Unplug A/C for 10 sec, hit the power button couple of times during with power cord not present and reboot after that with PS/2 keyboard
OK, did the PS2 Keyboard work while you switch ON the computer and can you open the BIOS using F2 or DEL key? If that works, check within the BIOS if there's any function for to Enable/Disable (PS2)Keyboard? IF NOT, have the NUM Lock ON, keep an 'eye' on it to see at which stage it will off while Windows is booting/startup! It's possible that by accident (of whom ever!) the keyboard is disabled within Windows boot! If that is the case, start Windows in Safe Mode and run a Repair, may that brings the Keyboard back!
Let's see. no way to make my keyboard work. Bios updated and there is no option in Bios to enaBle or disable PS2. num Look is on, while boot and when Windows starts, but doesn´t work . Will take a look at the handook .
The only option I found is a jumper to enable Wake up keyboard PS2. If I enable, this option will appear in BIOS.
Try to turn off computer, disable power supply, clear cmos, wait 10 minutes and turn on. See if that helps.
I found the problem. First I needed to change the jumper to enable Power on By keyboard PS2. After that, I could enable the keyboard in BIOS (wake up pressing POWER button), was my option. Restarted my computer, and the PS2 keyboard was working together with my wireless mouse.
Without the correct setting of the Keyboard Jumper the BIOS even could not 'see' that one! Many of the newer MB's coming already with the Keyboard disabled these day's because the majority of users today use Wireless K/M! Also some MB's didn't have an PS/2 Mouse connector any more, or some even use a combo connector for either Keyboard or Mouse!
