    Hi all,

I have created the following LAB VM1 using workstation 9.0 on my local desktop (PC1)

    • Windows 2008 R2 Standard SP1, 2GB RAM, 1 CPU
    • Roles/functions as a Primary DC and Exchange 2010 SP2
    • AD and Exchange work correctly on PC1

I copied all the files from PC1\vm\DC1\*.* to PC2\vm\DC1\*.* and then opened the VM1 from PC2 and I choose "I copied it".

    Issue:
On PC2 i am unable to open active directory users and computers. I get kerberos error messages, MMC doesn't want to load. Sorry but I havn't got the exact errors, the VM is at work. DCDiag reports messages like it can't contact the domain controller.

    But my question is;
Even though this VM is a domain controller & exchange server (work nicely on PC1). Should I be able to just pickup the entire folder/files and copy them to PC2.

Then configure the same network, start it up and it should just work :))

    or am I missing something

Any help would be much appreciated.
    cheers

Yes, should be no issue. Make sure you have the same network IP range on both PCs

I know its late reply but just for info if you are changing IP of DC with DNS & EX role then run

    ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /registerdns
    dcdiag /fix
restart netlogon service to write changes to DNS.
    nltest /dsregdns

You was getting error coz dns was not aware\replicated changed IP.....
