I recently did a fresh Win 7 64 bit install with IE8. Normally the first thing I do is hit the MS site and download IE11. This time I get the 'site does not support your browser' but I do get to the download page. Unfortunately when clicking on the link I get the 'thanks for downloading' but no pop up to actually download. I tried a couple of times but gave up and installed Firefox.

Did I miss something or has anyone else had this problem??

I normally just run the installer and don't bother to save it

everything is ok, you do it just like it should be done. after fresh install of the new os grab firefox or chrome and install it.

so don't worry everything is ok.

And you no longer need the IE for the Microsoft Update Catalog, it now works with all browsers.

First do all Windows 7 Updates, or Slim Update patch kits then after is done, then install IE11 and works charm.

    Its about damn time...

Anyways, like atgpud2003 said, it would be easier to slipstream a good majority of updates into a wim so it makes the updating part much quicker.

    Yepp...

Making w7 hard and boring to upgrade makes W10 more appetizing, simple as that.

Can easily be done in one hit with the Simplex Pack

Thanks for the "scoop", but upgrading w7 myself is not a problem, and not what I was discussing in my previous post.
